* All students admitted to the MA program in bilingual education will have completed a bachelor’s degree and received an initial teacher certification in early childhood or childhood education, middle school, or a content-area specialization in secondary school education.

English Proficiency Requirements for International Students: AlI international students from non-English-speaking countries must be tested at American Language Institute prior to matriculation to the major program. Based on the test results, one may be exempt from English courses.

 

Bilingual Extension Program Leading to Recommendation for New York State Bilingual Extension Certificate (15 points minimum)

In order to puruse this extension program, you must must hold or be eligible for New York State initial teaching certificate in your primary area. After completing the program, in order to obtain the New York State Bilingual Extension Certificate, you must also pass the Bilingual Education Assessment in your target language of instruction.
