NYS Certification Exam Safety Nets

The New York State Education Department (NYSED) has created safety nets for the new certification exams.  Please see NYSED safety net page here

Please see a summary of these safety nets below:
1. edTPA
The existing safety net was extended one more year. Therefore, any candidate who does not pass or has not passed the edTPA PRIOR TO JUNE 30, 2017, has the option of taking and passing the ATS-W exam in lieu of retaking the edTPA.  The ATS-W must also be taken prior to June 30, 2017.  Please see details on the NYSED edTPA safety net page here
2.  ALST

Effective immediately, the ALST (Academic Literacy Skills Test) has been eliminated. Candidates are NO LONGER REQUIRED to take the ALST for NYS certification.

3. EAS
The NYSED has identified a new safety net passing score of 500 for all EAS exams.  Candidates who have already taken the exam and while not passing scored 500 or higher should see their TEACH account updated to reflect a passing score for the EAS.  Please check your TEACH accounts. Candidates who have yet to take the EAS will achieve a passing score with 500 or higher through June 30, 2017.

The EAS safety net page here now includes information regarding the safety net cut score.

 4. CST
The new safety net for the redeveloped CSTs now allows a candidate to choose to take either the Safety Net (old version) CST until June 30, 2017 or the redeveloped CST.  Read more about the Safety Nets for CSTs.

The Safety Net CSTs and redeveloped CSTs are administered exclusively as computer-based tests.
