Study Abroad Scholarships and Financial Aid
Undergraduate Study Abroad Scholarships through NYU
Studying abroad does not necessarily cost more than a semester in New York. The cost of tuition remains the same, while costs associated with housing and meals are generally equivalent to that in New York, and may even cost less in some cases. As an NYU student all current financial aid applies to your semester or year abroad at an NYU study abroad site. If you currently receive aid, we encourage you to submit a Financial Aid Appeal form online in order to have your current financial aid package re-evaluated based on the estimated expenses of your study abroad program. See additional information for undergraduate funding.
Steinhardt Graduate Scholarship Criteria
Our goal is to make summer study abroad a viable option for all Steinhardt graduate students. Therefore, we offer need-based scholarships available for students accepted to one of our Steinhardt summer study abroad programs. The scholarships are partial scholarships generally ranging from $1,000-$2,000. The award process is competitive and need-based.
Please note: there are no scholarships available for January/Spring Break Intersession courses because they are allocated as part of spring semester. Any spring semester financial aid you may receive can be credited toward tuition for a January course.
To be eligible for the scholarships you must be:
- A graduate student
- Enrolled in a Steinhardt degree program
- Taking 6 or more credits during the summer session
- Display financial need
You will NOT be eligible for the scholarship if you already receive summer tuition remission from NYU (e.g. employees, spouses), if you are a funded Research Assistant, Teaching Assistant, Graduate Assistant, or Founders Fellow, or if you are registered as a non-matriculated (special) student. Undergraduates are unfortunately not eligible, nor are international students.
