Please note that students CANNOT pay study abroad housing and activity fees via the Bursar.  These fees are separate from tuition and must be paid directly to the Office of Academic Initiatives and Global Programs. Students who cannot pay via credit card should contact steinhardt.global@nyu.edu or call (212) 992-9380.

Tuition and Registration Fees

Students will be billed by and pay their tuition directly to the NYU Bursar, according to the Bursar schedule.  Additional information regarding current tuition costs, registration fees, and payment schedules, can be found on the Bursar website: NYU Bursar.

Financial Aid

Please refer to the appropriate section below for detailed financial aid information for Intersession/Spring programs, Summer programs and for Non-NYU students.

Intersession/Spring

NYU Graduate Students:

  • All Intersession/Spring Break programs will count towards spring semester course load and financial aid.
    • Financial aid disbursement for tuition and registration fees will be paid directly to the Bursar’s office in the same way as a spring course taken on campus.
  • Students may request additional aid for the spring term to cover the extra costs of their Global Program.
    • For information on requesting additional aid students should contact the Office of the Bursar: bursar.refunds@nyu.edu, (212) 998-2818

NYU Undergraduate Students:

  • All courses with an undergraduate course number will count towards the “Winter Session” term for course load and financial aid.
  • All intersession courses with a graduate course number will count towards the Spring Semester term for course load and financial aid
    • Note: For courses applied to the spring semester, undergraduates should be aware that once their total spring enrollment exceeds 18 units they will incur an additional fee.
  • All spring break courses will count towards the spring semester course load and financial aid.
  • For information on requesting additional aid or applying for winter session aid students should contact the Office of the Bursar: bursar.refunds@nyu.edu, (212) 998-2818
  • For additional information on program course numbers/classifications please contact the Steinhardt Office of Academic Initiatives and Global Programs.
Summer

Financial aid is available to current NYU students enrolled in at least six (6) credits for the Summer.

Those students who are currently receiving Federal Financial Aid may apply for summer financial aid using the NYU Office of Financial Aid. For more information please go to www.nyu.edu/financial.aid.

We are aware that some students will require early financialaid disbursements to pay for their Housing and Activity fees but  final payment must be made before your program’s departure.  In order to receive an early disbursement please follow the below steps.

  1. Apply for financial aid immediately at www.nyu.edu/financial.aid.  You do not need to be registered for a summer course to request aid; the application will ask how many credits you intend to take.  Disbursements will begin in late April, and the sooner you apply, the sooner your disbursement will be processed.
  2. Contact the Office of the Bursar to request an early disbursement: bursar.refunds@nyu.edu, 212-998-2818
  3. Advise our office that you have requested an early disbursement by emailing steinhardt.global@nyu.edu.  We will then extend your payment deadline, but final payment MUST be made before your program's departure date, regardless of when you receive your disbursement.
Intern Abroad Financial Aid:
Students participating in a summer Intern Abroad program and registered for less than six (6) credits may request full-time equivalency for financial aid and loan purposes.

This will allow participants to request a summer financial aid distribution to cover the cost of tuition and programming.  Please contact your internship director/coordinator or program advisor to complete a Full-time Equivalency Form.

If required, you may request supporting internship documentation from steinhardt.global@nyu.edu.
Financial Aid for Non-NYU Students

Non-NYU Students:

  • Non-NYU students, as per federal regulations, are not eligible for financial aid through NYU. However, non-NYU students should contact the financial aid office at their home university to find out if they are eligible for financial aid through a consortium agreement.
    • For intersession programs, consortium agreements should be submitted to NYU Financial Aid by the first week of January.
  • If consortium agreements are not offered through your home university, you may opt to apply for a private lender loan.
