Semester Study Abroad
NYU offers ten unique semester-long academic study abroad programs in some of the world's most exhilarating cities. These sites provide outstanding opportunities for Steinhardt students:

  • Music and Performing Arts: Music courses are offered Fall Semester in Prague, Spring Semester in Florence
  • Applied Psychology majors can take many psychology courses and other electives abroad
  • Art offers BFA studio courses at Ghana , Shanghai, and Berlin
  • Media, Culture, and Communication students can take media studies courses in Prague, Shanghai, and Paris
  • Nutrition and Food Studies majors can complete graduation requirements at a number of study abroad sites
  • Public Health minors can take a required course in Ghana
  • Communicative Sciences and Disorders majors can complete liberal arts requirements abroad in several locations
  • Teaching and Learning students often choose to spend spring of their sophomore year abroad

Steinhardt Summer Study Abroad
Steinhardt offers summer study abroad options to upper-level undergraduates (students who have earned 64+ credits by the time the program begins) in a variety of academic fields.  You will earn 4-6 credits while you immerse yourself in a topic and a place for three weeks or more. Pursue individual research in a global context. Meet leaders in your field. Attend performances, visit museums, encounter historical sites as you gain global exposure in an intensive format.

Graduate Students and Professionals

Intersession Study Abroad, January/Spring Break
Earn course credit in an intensive, global format. Taken in January or March (spring break), these graduate-level courses count toward spring course load and tuition, and any financial aid you receive in spring will apply to these courses. Flights, housing and activity fees are additional costs. Open to all NYU graduate students. Please consult with your academic advisor on how these courses may be allocated in your program of study.

Summer Study Abroad
NYU Steinhardt offers nearly 20 summer study abroad programs on four continents. These 6-12 credit courses ranging from a survey of Italian cuisine and the Mediterranean diet in Florence, Italy, to the study of media and globalization in Hong Kong and Beijing, China. Programs are open to graduate students from all schools of NYU, visiting graduate students from other universities, and working professionals.
