San Cristobal Island
On day one after lunch we took a dinghy ride along the shores of tuff-stone layers which brought us to the San Cristobal white coraline beach . Upon arrival we had a wet landing.
On this island we saw sea lions and seabirds like blue-footed boobies and Nazca boobies.  The beach was a great open walking area, with amazing birdwatching. The highlights ashore included the Chatham Lava Lizard; a species endemic to this island, and seen nowhere else in the Galapagos.  These are the same shores that Charles Darwin walked upon, back in September 1835, as San Cristobal was the first island where he set foot in the Galapagos.
