Highlights from Closing Remarks by Mary Brabeck, Dean, NYU Steinhardt

"I want to give you one of my favorite quotes from the poet Rainer Maria Rilke who gave this advice to young writers in Letters to a Young Poet: 'Try to love the questions themselves, as if they were in locked rooms or books written in a very foreign language. Don’t search for the answers which could not be given to you now because you would not be able to live them and the point is to live everything. Live the questions now. Perhaps then someday in the future you will gradually without even noticing it live your way into the answer.’ I think Cecily has been living her way into the answer and enabling others to live their way into the answers through her questioning process."
