Let’s Talk International is a semi-structured discussion group and safe space for study abroad returnees, international students, third culture kids, and anybody interested in international/intercultural experiences to explore topics such as identity development, cultural adjustment, cross-cultural relationships, and general navigation of life across cultures.

 

Graduate Students: Join the NYU Libraries for Fair Use Week programs, February 22-26, 2016

Hello from the NYU Libraries:

The NYU Libraries will be hosting a number of great programs during Fair Use Week, February 22-26.

Join Scholarly Communication Librarian, April Hathcock, JD, LLM, MLIS, to learn about the basics of Fair Use. In particular we will cover sticky fair use scenarios across media and sharing platforms, like working with YouTube videos, reposting material from the web, sharing articles in NYU Classes, or reusing images on a personal blog.

And join us on February 25th when we host the Center for Open Science in a hands-on workshop to learn easy, practical steps to increase the reproducibility of your work. NYU Global Leadership Summit 2016 Taking Action on the European Refugee Crisis

Are you passionate about exercising leadership on a global scale? Then, you can’t afford to miss this opportunity!

We are pleased to announce the NYU Global Leadership Summit 2016: Taking Action on the European Refugee Crisis, which will take place in Prague fromMay  21 – 24, 2016. Please note that these dates are inclusive of travel time.

Designed and hosted by the NYU Leadership Initiative, NYU Global Programs, Global Spiritual Life at NYU and NYU Prague, the 2016 Summit will bring together 20 NYU students from across the University and global sites for a once in a lifetime learning experience.

Students will participate in peer-to-peer learning, examine a leadership framework rooted in collective work, and engage in experiential leadership development workshops. As part of the program, students will learn from theAssociation for Integration and Migration and work alongside human rights leaders to put their new skills to use on behalf of the migrant and refugee community in Prague.

In order to participate students must:

  • Show leadership potential with a commitment to personal growth
  • Have an interest in the European refugee crisis
  • Demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively across difference
  • Have sophomore or junior status for the Spring 2016 semester
  • Have good academic and disciplinary standing

Research and Scholarship Showcase – Call for Applications – Deadline: Friday, March 11, 2016

The Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development Graduate Student Organization (GSO), the Office of Research and Doctoral Studies, and the Office of Student Affairs are enthusiastic sponsors of the annual Research and Scholarship Showcase.  The 4th annual showcase will take place on April 21, 2016 beginning at 9:30 a.m.  Students are invited to present their original research in either poster and oral presentations to compete for awards and prizes.

This is the application is for students who are interested in presenting their original research at the NYU Steinhardt’s 4th annual Research and Scholarship Showcase. The deadline for this application is Friday, March 11, 2016 at midnight.

NYCDOE Information Session for NYU Steinhardt Students Tuesday, February 16th 12:45-2:00pm

Please join the NYCDOE for an in-depth information session on the application process and getting hired in New York City Public Schools. Prospective teachers will be able to ask specific questions to the presenter. This information session is especially relevant to teachers who are looking to begin their career in Fall 2016. All subject areas are welcome, however, please note that speech and language pathologists, school counselors and social workers have a separate application process. Some of the general content in this information session may be relevant to these majors but details about their application process and career opportunities will not be covered.
