Our next Let’s Talk International topic is “Identity and Community”. How are our identities affected as we navigate new countries and cultural communities? How do others’ expectations of who we are affect us and our community?

Let’s Talk International, a collaboration of the Office of Global Services and the Steinhardt Office of Student Affairs, is a semi-structured discussion group and safe space for study abroad returnees, international students, third culture kids, and anybody interested in international/intercultural experiences to explore topics such as identity development, cultural adjustment, cross-cultural relationships, and general navigation of life across cultures. While topics and short activities provide a framework, students drive the conversation in directions most relevant to them. Continued attendance is encouraged, though students are not required to attend all sessions.

Join USG for Tip to Tip Charity Walk on 4/27!

Want to see all of Manhattan in one day? Come join NYU Steinhardt’s Undergraduate Student Government for a day of sights & refreshments at our annual Tip-to-Tip charity walk on Saturday, April 27th! The walk will start at 10 am and we will be walking from 215th Street & Broadway off the 1 train all the way down to Battery Park in one day.

We are asking that participants donate $5 for our contribution to a school through Donor’s Choose. RSVP here.

168th st. – 10:45 am
116th st. – 11:50 am
72nd st. – 12:55 pm
59th st. – 1:30 pm
14th st. – 2:15 pm (*longer break*, meet back at Gandhi Statue at 2:45pm)

Have a Question? Go Ahead, Ask Us! The Student Resource Center is home to dozens of programs for transfer and transitioning students, commuter students, and off-campus students. Get involved with the NYU community through the Class Activities Boards, Commuter Student Council, and Transfer & Transitioning Student Association. Dalai Lama Fellowship Application

New York University is one of ten universities to offer the Dalai Lama Fellowship, a global program authorized by the Fourteenth Dalai Lama. One fellow will be chosen from each university to receive up to $10,000 toward a year-long project of his or her design in one of four focus areas:
1) working across differences;
2) diminishing violence;
3) alleviating poverty;
4) protecting the environment.

All undergraduate, graduate and professional students – who will be enrolled full-time at NYU in Academic Year 2013 – 2014 – are invited to apply. Dalai Lama Fellowship Application Application Deadline: April 17, 2012

In this conversation we will be talking about the overall concept of allyship, and how we can be an ally to various communities. We’ll also discuss what it means to have and need allies for our own reasons. Please join us for refreshments and a great discussion!
