DASA Course Requirement Reminder

The DASA training workshop/course for those students that are graduating in May 2014, Summer 2014 or after and who completed TCHL-UE 1999 or TCHL-GE 2999 Drug and Alcohol Ed, Child Abuse Id, School Violence Prevention in Spring 2013 or earlier semesters which did not include the DASA training and is available for Spring 2014 registration on Albert. The DASA training/workshop will be offered on February 21, 2014, please see details below:

TCHL-UE 1998/TCHL-GE 2998 DASA Training in Harassment, Bullying & Discrimination in Schools
This coursework or training is designed to fulfill the harassment, bullying, & discrimination prevention & intervention training required for certification/licensure under the Dignity for All Students Act (The Dignity Act). The Dignity Act requires, among other things, school districts to create policies & guidelines to be used in school training programs to discourage the development of discrimination or harassment & to enable employees to prevent & respond to discrimination or harassment. The course is six instructional hours, three of which must be received through face to face instruction.

Students graduating in May 2014, Summer 2014 or after and who completed TCHL-UE 1999 or TCHL-GE 2999 Drug and Alcohol Ed, Child Abuse Id, School Violence Prev in Spring 2013 or earlier semesters which did not include the DASA training must complete this 0 credit workshop to be recommended for certification. For those students that haven’t yet taken TCHL-UE 1999 or TCHL-GE 2999, the DASA training is now included and was first offered in Summer 2013.  These students would not register for the stand alone workshop. The new title for TCHL-UE 1999 and TCHL-GE 2999 is Drug and Alcohol Ed/Child Abuse Id/School Violence Prev/DASA
