Bereavement Group available at Counseling and Wellness

The Counseling clinic offers a group for students who are grieving the death of a family member or loved one.  We are currently putting together the spring semester group which will meet weekly on Thursdays from 12:30 – 1:30 beginning February 14th.  This group helps students who may be feeling isolated in their grief by providing a safe, supportive space to talk about death and loss with others who share similar experiences.  The group is best-suited for students who experienced a loss more than 2 months ago — individual therapy is more useful with a very recent loss.  This group is open to all NYU students so if you have a friend or roommate in a different program, feel free to let them know about the group.
To schedule a screening interview for the Bereavement Group please call the group facilitator –  Margaret Bailey, LCSW at 212 998-5061 or contact the main Counseling Clinic at 212 998-4780.
