Watch the Video: Steinhardt’s Environmental Education Faculty on Life After Sandy

The challenges facing New York City and local communities in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy was the topic of an NYU event in December.

“Life After Sandy: Adapting to the New Normal,” was moderated by Howard Schiffman, a visiting associate professor of environmental conservation education in Steinhardt’s Department of Teaching and Learning.

Schiffman was among panelists who explored the challenges that citizens of New York City faced after the storm, as well as some of the complex issues that the city faced in the storm’s aftermath.

Mary Leou, director of Steinhardt’s Wallerstein Collaborative for Urban Environmental Education, addressed the role that environmental education can play in preventing the worst consequences of climate change in the future.
