Global practice in the administration of the arts is undergoing profound transformations as a result of changing funding systems, management practices, and audiences. In response to the growing industry demand, NYU Steinhardt, in collaboration with one of the top international business schools, University of Deusto Business School, and the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao announces the launch of the International Leadership Program in Visual Arts Management.
This program, with its innovative approach to learning, consists of five-day modules taught by experts in their respective fields in three geographical areas—New York, Europe, and Abu Dhabi.
The program aims to:
- Facilitate the understanding of the current competitive environment and key drivers of success in global arts industries.
- Strengthen the strategic vision of cultural organizations and the leadership skills required to face the challenges of the industry in the 21st century.
- Improve the decision-making process through mastering the fundamentals of arts management including strategy and governance, financial management, marketing, fundraising, and operations.
- Further develop an international network of colleagues, experts, and practioners in the global arts
The program, aimed at senior professionals with at least five years of relevant experience in the field of visual arts or related arts fields, begins April 2013 and is structured in three intensive modules of five days per module. Module one (Bilbao, April 15–19) focuses on understanding the environment: global trends and strategic vision. Module two (New York, June 10-14) tackles leadership, audience and funders, and Module three (Abu Dhabi, Oct. 6-10) will have an emphasis on operating in the global art sector.
