Haitian-American Martha St. Jean (BS ’07) Mourns Her Ancestral Homeland

‘My Lament for Haiti,’ by Steinhardt alumna, Martha St. Jean (BS ’07), is a meditation by a first generation Hatian-American who has never been to her homeland, “never had to face the prospect of hunger,” or “worry about where my head would rest at night.”

St. Jean urges readers to donate to the Red Cross and Partners in Health, an organization that provides health care to impoverished Haitians.

A graduate from Steinhardt’s Department of Media, Culture, and Communication, St. Jean blogs for the Huffington Post. Follow Martha St. Jean on twitter.
