A New Research Agenda
for the Sociology of Higher Education

Conference: March 24 and 25, 2006

Sociologists' conceptual framework for the study of colleges and universities has not substantially changed since the Cold War, despite significant changes in the politics and organization of post-secondary schooling in the U.S. and throughout the world. This conference brings together sociologists from across the discipline, charging them to define a research agenda for higher education that benefits from recent advances in the sociology of culture, knowledge, organizations, and stratification.
