Mala Singh, Visiting Scholar
Mala Singh is a South African Fulbright Scholar based at the New School for Social Research and the Steinhardt Institute for Higher Education Policy, NYU. She is currently Professor of International Higher Education Policy in the Centre for Higher Education Research and Information at the Open University in the UK. She was the founding Executive Director of the Higher Education Quality Committee (HEQC) of the Council on Higher Education in South Africa. She has a doctorate in Philosophy and was formerly professor and head of the Department of Philosophy at the University of Durban-Westville in South Africa. Her Fulbright research project is titled, "Can social justice and social transformation issues be considered as a constituent part of conceptions of quality and systems of quality evaluation in high education: An assessment of the South African system."
Jong Chul Jung, Visiting Scholar
Jong Chul Jung is consul and deputy director at the Korean Cultural Service of the Korean Consulate General of New York. He holds degrees in Adult Education from the University of Georgia, and in Public Administration from Seoul National University and Sungkyunkwan University in Korea. He is the author of several articles and reports on adult participation and on the use of information and communications technologies (ICT) in Korea. At the Steinhardt Institute, Dr. Jung is undertaking a comparative analysis of higher education reform efforts across countries, with an emphasis on institutional efforts to educate adult students.
