Roger Geiger is Distinguished Professor of Education at The Pennsylvania State University. An expert on the history and current structure of the American research university, he is the author of Knowledge and Money: Research Universities and the Paradox of the Marketplace (2004), To Advance Knowledge: The Growth of American Research Universities, 1900-1940 (1986), and Research and Relevant Knowledge: American Research Universities Since World War II (1993). He has been editor of the History of Higher Education Annual since 1993.
