What Does Equity Mean for Black University Students in South Africa?
Jonathan D. Jansen is the immediate past Dean of the Faculty of Education at the University of Pretoria where has was the first Black South African appointed to a deanship. He is an expert in South African education policy and reform. He is a current Fulbright Scholar to Stanford University where he earned his PhD with a study of curriculum change in Zimbabwe. His most recent books include Mergers in Higher Education (2002), Education and Equity (2005), Equal educational opportunities: Comparative Education Law Perspectives (2005), Authority and Pedagogy in Third World Classrooms (2006, forthcoming), and a current book project entitled The Politics of Memory: How white students remember and enact the past.
