William Durden is the current president of Dickinson College in Carlisle, Pennsylvania.  Before coming to Dickinson in 1999, Durden had served as an educator and administrator in a diverse set of institutions, including St. Paul's preparatory school in Baltimore, Johns Hopkins University, Sylvan Learning Systems, Inc., the Caliber Learning Network, and the U.S. Department of State.  He holds a PhD in German Language and Literature from Johns Hopkins and publishes widely on such topics as gifted and talented education, higher education leadership and the liberal arts.
