Undergraduate Student Spotlights

Teaching and Learning

What I do to de-stress:
I go for a walk. I love to walk to different parts of the city, it distracts me from whatever is stressing me out!
I would like to be remembered for my:
postive impact of my students' lives
My favorite course at NYU:
Education and the American Dream. I learned way more then I ever thought I would about the history of education in America. It was so interesting!
Community service activity I'm most proud of:
Tutoring with Ascension church. I was paired up with a 5th grader my first day and we've been working together for almost 2 years.
After I graduate, I:
look forward to my first year of teaching, even though I know it will be full of challenges!
Why I chose this program at NYU Steinhardt:
This was one of the most enthusiastic education programs that I found. All the opportunities to work with schools in NYC made it an easy choice
A book from class I would never sell back:
Promoting Health and Emotional Well-being in Your Classroom by Page and Page is one, but really, I've never sold back any books that pertain to my major!
My inspiration:
My mom! She's a single mother, a friend, and a teacher in a public school. There is so much to learn from her.
My favorite place to study around NYU:
My dorm room. Its comfortable and there is food!
If I took a year off from my current life, I would:
Volunteer in a country I have never been to.
Prized possession:
A box of all the postcards that I've recieved from all over the world.
The professor who influenced me the most:
Elizabeth McDonald was my professor for Inquiries. I learned so much from her and from that class.
