Undergraduate Student Spotlights

Nina Boys

Media, Culture, and Communication

Three things I have with me at all times:
My Czech "Na Zdravi" bracelet inspired by my semester abroad in Prague, good friends and an adventurous spirit
My inspiration:
The limitless possibilities that the world has to offer
My prized possession:
A giant black and white photograph of actor W.C. Fields playing a hand of poker that I found at a yard sale as a child
After I graduate, I:
want to explore as much of the world as possible and apply my talents and interests to things I am truly passionate about while enjoying life and all its beauty
The longest it took me to write a paper:
About a week straight of long nights in Bobst
Best course at NYU:
Advertising and Society with Marita Sturken
Why I chose this program:
I find that it is very relevant to both my everyday life as well as the world at large and can also be applied to virtually any career path
Favorite Book (please include author):
The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao by Junot Diaz
The professor who has influenced me the most:
Jamie Berthe because of her genuine interest in the field she teaches and her excitement to pass this on to her students
Most adventurous thing I've ever done:
Taking a year off from college to live and volunteer in Ecuador with my best friend
If I took a year off from my current life, I would:
travel anywhere and everywhere in the world to meet as many interesting people as possible and learn as much as I could by embracing every opportunity that presented itself
Favorite study spot at NYU:
The lowest level in Bobst equipped with good music
Worst job I've ever had:
Dishwashing in a summer camp kitchen in Maine
