Undergraduate Student Spotlights

Jackson Taylor

Applied Psychology

Three things I have with me at all times:
wallet, a nice pen, and something to write on.
My inspiration:
nuances of circumstance and various shades of blue.
My prized possession:
my largley neglected moleskine.
After I graduate, I:
hope to be enrolled in a graduate program in psychology.
The longest it took me to write a paper:
a couple of weeks, i write in phases.
Best course at NYU:
sex class.
Why I chose this program:
I'm interested in the practice of psychology, specifially how culture and context influence human thought, emotion, and behavior, and the application of such knowledge within the clinical situation
Favorite Book (please include author):
The Principles of Uncertainty by Maira Kalman
The professor who has influenced me the most:
Most adventurous thing I've ever done:
Summer 2010: bouts of NYC homelessness, followed by six weeks of teaching English in Central European villages, etc.
If I took a year off from my current life, I would:
wander around New York and various other locations in search of the proper place to call home.
Favorite study spot at NYU:
The 6 train. Kimball 6W is probably my favorite spot to "study," though.
Worst job I've ever had:
one of several federal employments.

Since August 2009, I have also been an intern at the United States Association for Body Psychotherapy Journal, and am very grateful to Dr. Jacqueline Carleton for encouraging my exploration of somatic psychology, attachment, and clinical research. Most recently I began working for the INSIGHTS research team at NYU, exercising and building my knowledge of RefWorks and the elements of APA style. I also take pictures and blog about stuff.
