Media, Culture, and Communication
Dream study abroad location:
Exactly where I am. (Prague!)
Favorite Book (please include author):
"Dream It, Dare It, Do It," by Gail Goodwin. Silly, smart, and fabulous. I want to write a book just like it someday.
My hidden talent:
I make a pretty nice fish face.
Three things I have with me at all times:
Camera, Carmex and a pen.
When I hear the word "genius," I think of:
Dick Wolf. At the end of every single amazing episode of Law & Order, a friend and I always yell, "Dick Wolf does it again!!" Pure genius.
My favorite study spot at NYU:
Ground floor of Pless Hall
Most adventurous thing I've ever done:
Being chased by wild dogs while riding a horse on the beaches of Puerto Escondido in Mexico. Definitely five of the most terrifying and exhilarating moments of my life.
Community service I am most proud of:
Building stoves for families using only mud and bricks during a ten-day service trip to Urubamba, Peru. Absolutely exhausting, but incredibly worth it.
Dolphin trainer. I had that career all mapped out by the fourth grade :)
The snooze button.
My favorite thing about NYC:
The fast-pace, the bright lights, and the endless possibilities.
Most influential person during my college career at NYU:
It's impossible to narrow it down?"I think everyone I've encountered up to this point, whether for a moment or for a lifetime has influenced me in some way or another.
Staying in one place at a time.
Dream job when I graduate:
Entertainment lawyer, CNN correspondent, New York Times journalist, motivational speaker, everything and anything I'm passionate about.
Where you grew up:
On the beach. But really, on Long Island, New York.
Honors, Awards, and Achievements:
I was named a Coca-Cola Foundation Scholar, and upon acceptance to NYU, a Martin Luther King Jr. Scholar. On campus I am a member of the Admissions Ambassador program, meaning I lead tours of NYU for prospective students and families, and represent the university at various recruitment events. I've been fortunate enough to have many incredible internship experiences, my favorite of which so far has been working for New York City Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg's Press Office of Research and Media Analysis, where I was able to experience the inner-workings of City Hall first-hand on a daily basis. During my sophomore year I was involved in a study abroad program in Puebla, Mexico, where I lived with a native Mexican family and learned more about international media with an intimate group of seven peers. Currently, I'm serving as a member of the Pearson Student Advisory Board, where students from around the country and myself interact with executives from a leading global education company to provide feedback on existing and future product models, as well as collaborate on various projects in the educational realm. I'm spending this semester living in Prague, studying politics and interning at InStyle magazine. During downtime, I love to travel and explore, and I'm incredibly optimistic for every new experience that the future holds.
Community Service and Other Activities:
Through the MLK Jr. Scholars program, I had the opportunity to travel to different areas of Peru with peers to work with local communities, which was one of my favorite life experiences thus far. Additionally, I've been involved with College Connection at NYU, where I led discussions with students from NYC public schools on the college application process and college life, emphasizing the importance of a post-secondary education. This past semester I worked with the High School Law Institute at NYU Law School where we would spend Saturday mornings working with high school students teaching law-related topics.
