Yekaterina Kuporosova
Music Therapy
Why I chose this graduate program:
Out of all the schools I researched and applied to, NYU offered the best music therapy program.
My inspiration:
Music and dance
Something I collect:
Tibetan paintings and artifacts; indigenous art
Why I went back to graduate school:
I wanted to combine my two greatest interest music and psychology, and work in a field where I can apply both of these mediums.
The best gift I've ever received:
My college education.
My biggest challenge:
To learn English when I first immigrated to the US.
The professor who influenced me the most:
Prof. Richard Burke, my college music history professor.
How I take my coffee:
Preferably with whole milk and 2 brown sugars... But my healthy choice is vanilla rice milk.
Most adventurous thing I've ever done:
Traveled around Thailand alone; Hiked mountain in Peru for a month and shaved my head while I was there.
My secret (academic) passion:
International Law
What I do to de-stress:
Meditation & prayer, working out, playing harp or piano or guitar, dancing, yoga, mineral/bubble baths, reading (non-school material), light candles and incents, singing, talking with my mother, eat a healthy meal, writing (especially poetry), deep breathing, essential oils, bath house.
If I could change the world, I would:
Live in a world where all people were completely environmentally conscious and free of hatred and ignorance.
After I graduate, I:
Will go to Israel to connect with my Jewish roots. I will look for a job where I can work with children.
