Elizabeth Kepper Brown
MA in Studio Arts

Why I chose this graduate program:
Painting in Venice for 2 summers. Who could resist? Not to forget that the Masters degree is my priority. Still, what better could one wish for?
A book from class I would never sell back:
Not a book, but magazine: Art Forum. On a side note, I was reading my Art Forum when I found the ad for NYU's study abroad Masters program. I found the best program ever in my favorite art literature.
Something I collect:
I collect soup cans and cuttings from magazines
Why I went back to graduate school:
I've always wanted my masters and when I read about this program, I knew it was for me. I haven't been this excited over school ever!
The best gift I’ve ever received:
My puppy Cowboy.
The
longest it took me to write a paper:
A week believe it or not. I wanted it to be perfect, plus it was a hard hard hard class.
The professor who influenced me the most:
Marizio Pellegrini. He is very supportive and full of constructive criticism. He knows how to critique your work without making you frustrated to the point where you give up. He has helped my work do a 180 which has guided me into becoming the artist that I am today.
My favorite place to have coffee around NYU:
I haven't gone to school around the NYU campus, but in Italy, it would have been the little place right outside of campus, but I don't remember the name!
If I could take a year off, I would:
paint paint paint and not do anything else.
My secret (academic) passion:
Abstract paintings of course!
The best invention in the last 10 years:
A robot. I made one that seeks heat and puts fire out. (and most of my paintings)
My inspiration:
Rosenquist and Rauschenberg are the top two on my list.
After I graduate, I:
will paint paint paint and become very successful.
