Graduate Student Spotlights

Diana E. Windhorst

Drama Therapy

Why I chose this graduate program:
It is both personally warm and academically rigorous. The program and its director, Robert Landy, are pioneers in the field
A book from class I would never sell back:
Persona and Performance by Robert J. Landy
Something I collect:
Rocks from the shore.
Why I went back to graduate school:
I was tired of the "business" of theatre. I wanted to do something more in alignment with the healing, illuminating roots of theatre. I had also become interested in psychology through my own therapy. When I discovered drama therapy existed, it united all my passions into one field. I needed to study and train in this pioneering field in order to heal others through drama, so I went back to school.
The best gift I’ve ever received:
My fiance.
The longest it took me to write a paper:
A week.
The professor who influenced me the most:
Robert Landy
My favorite place to have coffee around NYU:
Think Coffee - no question!
If I could take a year off, I would:
Travel and live in Chile, where my mother is from.
My secret (academic) passion:
I love theory, and I love writing papers.
The best invention in the last 10 years:
The Food Network
My inspiration:
My heart and my imagination.
After I graduate, I:
Want to do drama therapy with at-risk/incarcerated youth, get a PhD, contribute to the advancement of drama therapy, and someday teach.
