Graduate Student Spotlights

Maria Bella

Nutrition and Dietetics

Briefly tell us why you chose your program:
Having started my professional career as a medical student at Upstate Medical University, I have soon realized the lack of emphasis placed on disease prevention in the United States. Losing almost seventy pounds in the process further allowed me to experience the positive benefits of proper diet and exercise. This transformation along with my experience on the hospital floors gave me the courage to pursue my true passion - a career in Clinical Nutrition. Through thorough research, I was able to determine that NYU Steinhardt has one of the best organized programs in Clinical Nutrition in the United States. The RD exam passing rates have been 100% for the past couple of years. Meeting with Fred Tripp in the Nutrition Department solidified my decision.
