Briefly tell us why you chose your program:
After graduating with a Communications degree from UCLA and landing a real job with a cool company (Disney), I decided that a. the entertainment and consumer industry was making me miserable and b. I was sick of Los Angeles. I've never stopped my love for learning, especially anything and everything media so grad school became my next big idea. Picking was easy: NYU Steinhardt's MA in Media, Culture and Communication offered the courses, academic environment and learning opportunities I sought in the city I wanted to be in the most.

Sherlock Holmes, the complete collection
My inspiration is:
Our Deepest Fear by Marianne Williamson
Something I collect:
Movie ticket stubs
Why I went to Graduate School:
To go in a completely different direction
The best gift I've ever received:
A see-though, bubble umbrella. SO useful for those windy, rainy days
The longest paper I've ever written:
Some 60 pages for an undergraduate thesis on primetime comedy.
The professor who influenced me the most:
My creative writing professor, Jennifer Westbay (UCLA)
My favorite coffee:
Anything from Porto Rico Importing Co. on Saint Mark's.
If I could take a year off I would:
Write that novel brewing in the back of my mind
My secret passion is:
cooking. it's a secret because I can't do it.
The best invention ever is:
Why, the Internet, no doubt!

I currently intern for Day One, a non-profit fighting against dating violence and abuse and volunteer at IMPACT, a group that promotes debating among high-risk teens.
