Onnie Rogers

Onnie Rogers is a 3rd year doctoral student in developmental psychology working with Dr. Niobe Way. Onnie is interested in the identity development of urban adolescents. She is particularly interested in the ways in which adolescents experience and make meaning of multiple aspects of their identities, such as race and gender, and how social contexts, such as schools, and cultural stereotypes shape the identity process. Onnie also works with Dr. Pedro Nogeura in the department of Teaching and Learning on a project examining single-sex schools for low-income Black and Latino males. Onnie's dissertation will focus on the racial and gender identity development of Black adolescent males attending an all-Black, all-male high school.

Onnie completed her undergraduate studies at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) where she majored in Psychology and minored in Educational Studies.
