Ha Yeon Kim is a second year doctoral student in the Psychological Development program at NYU's Steinhardt school of Culture, Education, and Human Development. Prior to joining the program Ha Yeon was involved in several research projects on language development and risks and resilience of culturally diverse population in Korea while completing her master's degree in Child Development at Seoul National University. In addition to her previous research experience, Ha Yeon worked as a Fulbright Language Teaching Assistant at Claremont McKenna College, CA, as an intern at National Assempbly of Republic of Korea, and as an assistant teacher at the childcare center in Seoul National University. She recieved a dual bachelor's degree in Psychology and Child Development & Family Science in Seoul National University. Her research interst includes language and cognitive development of immigrant children and acdemic English acquisition in relation to academic adapation of immigrant youth. Currently she is working with Dr. Carola Suárez-Orozco on various projects on academic adaptation and educational pathway of immigrant youth, as well as with Dr. Gigliana Melzi on language and cognitive development in diverse context.
