Doctoral Student Policies

The Office of Graduate Studies is the area of Student Services that is primarily concerned with graduate student policy and procedure. Our main function is to provide information to students and faculty and to track progress through checkpoints that are common to doctoral students in the Steinhardt School.

All Ph.D. and Ed.D. students should have a copy of the Handbook for Doctoral Study. The Handbook is meant as a general guide to School policy and includes forms for students to use as they go through steps such as admission to degree candidacy, appointment of a dissertation committee, submission of the dissertation proposal and the filing of the dissertation for final oral examination.

The Handbook for Doctoral Study and all forms may be downloaded from this site or may be obtained from The Office of Graduate Studies. Please feel free to contact us by mail, telephone, e-mail, or stop by our office anytime during regular business hours with any questions you may have about any of the information or forms that appear here.
