The Texture of Life: Purposeful Activities in Occupational Therapy

"The second edition of The Texture of Life helps us unravel the complexities that are intertwined in everyday life and develop a new appreciation for the richness and the subtlety of our profession," writes Maralynne D. Mitcham, PhD, OTR/L, FAOTA, in her Foreword. Building on the first edition, the collection of expanded and updated essays in this edition of The Texture of Life reaffirms the importance of meaningful activities in a person's occupation, and through that, the importance of their role in occupational therapy. Using lucid language coupled with wonderful photographs and figures, the authors explain the subtle and varied aspects of human activity. For students and therapists alike, this book provides a look at how the synergy between meaningful activities and the occupational therapy profession touches thousands of lives. The book, edited by Jim Hinojosa, PhD, OT, FAOTA, and Marie-Louise Blount, AM, OT, FAOTA, contains contributions from faculty at the NYU Department of Occupational Therapy, as well as alumni and professionals who have various connections with the department.
