Frieda J. Behlen Occupational Therapy Scholarship
Eight years ago, the Frieda J. Behlen Occupational Therapy Scholarship Fund was initiated in honor of one of the founders of the Department of Occupational Therapy at NYU. Many of you have joined in our efforts and responded positively to our appeals.
We are proud to have been able to create an endowment. This has enabled us to draw upon the earned income from the fund award scholarships, while leaving the principal intact for future years. To date, 14 scholarships have been awarded for tuition aid during the summer semester, a time when other financial aid is generally not available.
The initial Behlen Scholarship was a $1,000 award per recipient. With the growth of the endowment's principal, we have been able to gradually increase this amount to $2,500 in 2007. However, this does not quite cover the cost of one three-credit summer course. Our hope is that, through your generosity, we will be able to further increase the size of the awards.
Deborah R. Labovitz Occupational Therapy Enhancement Fund
The Deborah R. Labovitz Occupational Therapy Enhancement Fund honors the memory of Dr. Labovitz as a teacher and leader during her twenty-year service as Chair of the Department. The fund will enable the Department to allocate resources for enrichment projects that encourage innovation and growth in the field of occupational therapy, the legacy of Dr. Labovitz. The fund will provide the impetus for supplemental activities that will enhance the professional and academic growth of the Department for the benefit of current students, faculty, alumni, and the larger occupational therapy community.

1. Go to www.nyu.edu/alumni/giving
2. Fill in the boxes in Part I: Personal Information.
3. In Part II: Gift Information, find the pull-down box "I would like my gift to support" and select "Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development."
4. In the box "Other Designation," type in the name of the fund you wish to receive your gift ("Frieda J. Behlen Occupational Therapy Scholarship" or "Deborah J. Labovitz Occupational Therapy Enhancement Fund").
5. Fill in the rest of the boxes in Part II.
6. Check the box in Part III: Other Information only if your company will be matching your donation.
7. Click on "Proceed" in Part IV: Sending Your Gift when you have completed the form and are ready to submit your information.
