Public Health Brigades at NYU
The NYU Public Health Brigades Club was started by 2 undergraduate students in the fall of 2008. Since then we have run 2 successful brigades in March 2009 and August 2009. Our club travels to Honduras twice a year, in March and August, for week-long brigades during which we build development projects, conduct community surveys, and teach health related education programs to both children and adults. Our 4 development construction projects are all directly targeted to prevent medical issues that affect the communities we serve:- Pilas (clean water storage units)
- Latrines
- Cement Floors
- Clean-burning Stoves
The NYU Public Health Brigades Club is part of the larger Global Health Brigades at NYU. Other clubs within the university are NYU Global Medical Brigades, NYU Dental Brigades, NYU Water Brigades, and NYU Microfinance Brigades. For more information on the NYU Public Health Brigades Club, see:

Public Health Brigades is an international network of college students and professionals that volunteer to design and implement public health solutions in the developing world. In collaboration with Medical and Water Brigades, this program empowers volunteers to build relationships with rural communities and create integrated projects to combat the threat of disease and the challenge of limited resources. Our holistic model focuses on education and infrastructural development to ensure sustainability. For more information see: http://www.globalbrigades.org/project/public-health/what-is-a-brigade/
