Alyson Taub
Alyson Taub, EdD, CHES, is Special Assistant to the Dean and Professor of Health Education at New York University. She earned her baccalaureate, masters, and doctoral degrees in Health Education at New York University, and also holds a dental hygiene degree from Forsyth School for Dental Hygienists in Boston. Dr. Taub has worked full-time at New York University for more than 30 years. Prior to that, she was a practicing dental hygienist and taught at the elementary and secondary school levels. Dr. Taub has published extensively, and has had leadership roles in professional associations at the state, national, and international levels. She completed a five-year term as secretary and Board member of the National Task Force on the Preparation and Practice of Health Educators, Inc., which became the National Commission for Health Education Credentialing, Inc. (NCHEC). Dr. Taub was the first Executive Director of the NCHEC and served for two years in that role as a volunteer. She served on the NCHEC Board of Commissioners from 1998-2003. Her professional contributions have focused on promoting health education as a profession and improving the professional preparation of health education specialists. Most recently, her professional work has focused on computer resources for health education. Among Dr. Taub's current professional activities are service as global Vice President for Capacity Building, Education, & Training, and Member, Board of Trustees, International Union for Health Promotion and Education (headquarters in Paris, France); Steering Committee for the National Health Educator Competencies Update Project(CUP), a multi-year research study; and member, National Transition Task Force on Accreditation in Health Education.
