Metro Center Liberty Partnerships Program Joins All-Girls Advisory in Richard R. Green High School of Teaching

Evda Darios, Assistant Principal from Richard R. Green High School of Teaching, has guided the Metro Center College Advisers on a unique project, an all-girls advisory curriculum. The curriculum has two main components: College Readiness and Women's Studies. Since students are now in the process of receiving college acceptance letters, it is a perfect time to transition into Women’s Studies. The Advisory began the Spring Term with a celebratory mark at New York University (NYU) on February 9th, to commemorate Black History Month. From the event, students learned about and participated in a rich discussion on the women who inspired the film Hidden Figures. According to Evda, “I enjoy hosting an all-girls advisory because it provides a safe space for girls to express themselves, and to learn.”

The Metro Center Liberty Partnerships Program has been working with the Richard R. Green High School of Teaching providing College Advisement to students. The Advisement comprised of academic support, one-on-one mentoring, college readiness, and support in making transitions.
