Metro College Prep Academy (CPA) Active in 2nd Annual College to Career Fair

On Wednesday February 15th, several Metro Center College Prep program alumni participated in CACNY’s College Success Network’s Second Annual College to Career Fair, hosted at John Jay College of Criminal Justice.

The goals of the College to Career Fair are to:

  • Connect business recruitment professionals with underrepresented, highly qualified college students and graduates, as well as the practitioners who serve them
  • Deliver expert content that directly impacts the professional development of highly talented students that are historically marginalized
  • Identify New York-based businesses with a strong interest in creating diverse pathways that refer underrepresented and highly qualified students to formative internship and job opportunities

Graduates of the College Prep Academy have the opportunity to network directly with recruiters from companies who are offering formative internships and entry-level career openings. Representatives include Ernst and Young, Bank of America, Health First, FDNY, NYC Service, TFA, NYC Men Teach, Lincoln Center, Dream Charter, Let’s Get Ready, Fresh Air Fund, Penguin Random House LLC, MDRC, PACE NPOWER and many more.

CPA graduates also participated in several workshops conducted by other employers and exhibitors including John Jay’s Career Services. Topics included: Learn how to leverage your alumni network; YELP - Nail the interview: How to develop your interviewing skills; LINKEDIN - Pro-tips from the experts: How to maximize your LinkedIn profile and Story2 - The Art of Storytelling: How to tell your story and write like a professional.

We are grateful to the Meringoff Foundation for this grant as it enabled us to reach out and invite our alumni to attend this amazing event.
