Dance teacher Kim Wojcieszek’s work at a public elementary school in Brighton Beach, Brooklyn, was highlighted in New York Teacher, the monthly newspaper of the United Federation of Teachers.
Wojcieszek, an alumna of the Dance Education program, choreographs the school’s annual fifth grade play, working closely with students as they prepare for the challenges of middle school. Wojcieszek and her colleagues make sure to involve all students in the play, whether on the stage or behind the scenes.
“It’s about making every child feel he or she is special, even in ensemble. We’re cheerleaders for them all year long,” Wojcieszek told the UFT.
