Shondel Nero Awarded James E. Alatis Prize for Research on Language Planning and Policy in Educational Contexts

Shondel Nero, Associate Professor of Multilingual Multicultural Studies in the Department of Teaching and Learning, has just been awarded the James E. Alatis Prize for Research on Language Planning and Policy in Educational Contexts for her paper De Facto Language Education Policy Through Teachers' Attitudes and Practices: A Critical Ethnographic Study in Three Jamaican Schools.


Professor Nero is the first recipient of the prize, named after one of the founding members of TESOL, James Alatis. The award will be presented at the TESOL convention in Baltimore on April 6th.
