Drama Therapy Students and Faculty Win Numerous Awards

The Program in Drama Therapy is pleased to announce a number of awards for its students and faculty over the past academic year, 2014-2015. 

  • Professor Maria Hodermarska was honored with the North American Drama Therapy Association Service Award (NADTA) at the annual conference in November.


  • Program Assistant Darci Burch is a 2015 NYU President's Service Award winner for her "extraordinary and exceptional commitment to the Drama Therapy Program."


  • Faculty members Cecilia Dintino and Maria Hodermarska were awarded an NYU Steinhardt Arts and Culture Grant for their participatory action/performance research project on the impact of disability on emotional intimacy in relationships.


  • Hodermarska and Dintino were also recognized with a grant that will be highlighted at an event for NYU's 125th anniversary.


  • Students Darci Burch, Lisa Hilt, and Nikolai Steklov were awarded a Steinhardt research grant for their project entitled: "What is Drama Therapy?"


  • Barbara Kaynan was awarded a Steinhardt research grant for her therapeutic theatre project Chain Play, which was performed at NYU in April. She graduated in May. 


  • Student Ana Bess Moyer Bell was awarded a Steinhardt research grant for a participatory action research/performance project on the impact of addiction on a small town.


  • Program Chair Robert Landy was the Faculty Speaker at the NYU Steinhardt Graduation Ceremony on May 20, 2015. He also celebrated the graduation of his daughter, Georgie Landy, from the NYU Steinhardt Art Therapy Program.
