Herbie Hancock was the honorary host, and Quincy Jones and Herb Alpert were the honorary co-chairs. The musical director was Terri Lyne Carrington.
Many illustrious jazz musicians performed at Zero Gravity Live, including Hancock, Carrington, Lalah Hathaway, Esperanza Spalding, Marcus Miller, Corinne Bailey Rae, Dee Dee Bridgewater, and Lizz Wright, as well as Shorter himself. Comedian Sinbad and singer-songwriter Joni Mitchell also appeared.
Tickets ranged from $1,250 for an individual ticket to the concert and dinner to $75,000 for a premium table for 20.
