Prof. Sumie Okazaki, PhD awarded 2014 MFP Dalmas Taylor Award at APA Convention

Sumie Okazaki, PhD was awarded the 2014 Dalmas Taylor Award by the Minority Fellowship Program's Training Advisory Committee at the 2014 APA Convention in Washington, D.C.

In honor of Dr. Dalmas Taylor, the first Director of the MFP, this award formally recognizes an MFP Alum who have made Distinguished Contributions to psychological issues relevant to racial and ethnic minority psychology. Nominees were at least 11 years past the doctorate at the time of nomination but no more than 25 years past.

Winner’s achievements are based primarily on overall research productivity; overall impact of their work on the development and implementation of social and public policies that contribute positively to ethnic minority persons or communities; their development of other ethnic minority psychologists through teaching and training; and the impact of the mental health services they provide to ethnic minority persons or communities.
