Dr. Ron Sadoff, Director of Film Scoring and Songwriting at NYU Steinhardt, was recently featured on Chicago’s WGN-TV syndicated broadcast of "Girl with a Gift."
The documentary, produced by multiple Emmy winner Steve Sanders, chronicles the extraordinary career of eleven-year-old musical prodigy Emily Bear. A composer, songwriter, and classical and jazz pianist, she is mentored and managed by the legendary Quincy Jones, who produced her current Concord jazz CD, Diversity.
Emily has been studying film scoring with Dr. Sadoff over the past three years and participated in this year's fourteenth NYU/ASCAP Foundation Film Scoring Workshop. She was the youngest composer ever selected to participate.
Dr. Sadoff noted, “In composing film scores, Emily draws on a thoroughly fluid musical facility and a remarkably mature narrative and dramatic sense.” Emily’s scores have been performed by the Santa Fe Symphony and on Katie Couric's television show.
