Braxton Boren and Agnieszka Roginska replicated a famous experiment by Benjamin Franklin on the intelligible range of the human voice using modern scientific techniques, and reported their findings at a meeting of the Acoustical Society of America in San Francisco. They, along with Franklin, wondered just how many people could hear the dynamic preacher George Whitfield at an outdoor speaking engagment in 1730.
