Diana Silver Reviews New Book by Economist Edward Glaeser, in the NY Times Book Review

Writing in the New York Times Book Review, Diana Silver, assistant professor of public health, calls Edward Glaeser's new book, The Triumph of the City, "at once polymathic and vibrant."

Glaeser, a Harvard economist, has studied the economics of cities and is a passionate advocate for urban density and the social benefits that accrue from diversity and density.

Silver praises his storytelling abilities. "[H]e explains how urban density contributed to the birth of restaurants, why supermarket check-out clerks demonstrate the competitive advantage such density confers, and how the birth of Def Jam Records illustrates they way cities spur artistic innovation."
