Established in 1973, the Ph.D. program, Research in Occupational Therapy was the first such doctoral program in the world. The program provides occupational therapists with the knowledge and skills to work in the profession as researchers, scholars, and educators. Doctoral students take courses in advanced occupational therapy and other disciplines both in the School and in the University.
PhD admissions requirements: (1) GRE score**; (2) graduation from an approved professional occupational therapy program; (3) a strong grade-point average; (4) master's degree or equivalent; (5) a personal statement; (6) three letters of recommendation; and (7) interviews as requested by the department.

Funding opportunities for Full-Time PhD Study- Steinhardt Fellowships are designed to help Ph.D. students undertake full-time study and research, and to complete their studies in a timely manner. Recipients of this award will receive 2 years of fellowship and one year of scholarship. No special application is required for applicants since all eligible full-time applicants (domestic and international) are automatically considered for such positions provided they meet all appropriate deadlines. Candidates meeting the requirements for the available fellowship will be contacted directly by the program or department faculty. Assistantships are awarded on a competitive basis.
December 1st is quickly approaching, you should plan accordingly.
** If you take the computerized GRE, you will get your scores immediately. Therefore, you will be able to write those scores on the application and submit it before the deadline. However, the admissions office should receive the official GRE report by the end of December.
