Enver Yucel, board president of Turkey's Bahcesehir Univesity, will join the Steinhardt School's Dean's Council of advisors. A successful educational entrepreneur, Yucel founded Bahcesehir Ugur Educational Institutions in 1974, which today includes Bahcesehir Univesity, numerous k-12 schools throughout Turkey, as well as test preparation and publishing units. "It is an honor for me to be a member of the Steinhardt School's Dean's Council," said Yucel. "This will give me the opportunity to learn from Steinhardt's experience and knowledge, while sharing with NYU my experience and knowledge as the founder and the chairman of the biggest educational institution of Turkey. I look forward to working with Dean Brabeck and the other council members in the months to come."
"I'm thrilled that Enver Yucel will join my Dean's Council of advisors," said Steinhardt Dean Mary Brabeck. "Enver is our first international council member; his global perspective on education will enrich our conversations and provide Steinhardt with invaluable insight as we help NYU embark on its mission of creating a ‘Global Network University.'"
The Dean's Council of the Steinhardt School was formed in 2004 by Dean Mary Brabeck to provide advice and counsel on a wide range of issues including educational policies, operations and more. From a small group of founding members, the Council has grown to an intimate group of 20 alumni, parents and friends of the School. The Council is particularly active in the areas of external affairs, publicity, and fundraising.
Council members attend quarterly meetings and are invited to participate in special events at the Steinhardt School. Members also participate in several Standing Committees including Marketing, Special Events, Campaign Planning and International Programs.
