Joe Salvatore, Professor of Educational Theatre, Publishes Play

Joe Salvatore, teacher of Educational Theatre at NYU Steinhardt, will have his play III published in The Best American Short Plays of 2008-2009. The publisher, Applause Books, has been producing the best short plays series for over 60 years and recent editions have included plays by John Guare and Neil Labute.  

III explores the 15-year relationship between Glenway Wescott, Monroe Wheeler, and George Platt Lynes developed from their letters and journals. The play received the New York International Fringe Festival's Overall Excellence Award for Outstanding play in 2008, an honor selected by an independent panel of over 50 theatre professionals.  

Joe Salvatore is a playwright and director based in Manhattan. He is on the faculty of the Program in Educational Theatre at New York University where he teaches courses in acting, directing, Shakespeare, applied theatre, new play development, and theatre pedagogy.  He also directs the Shakespeare Initiative program at Steinhardt. http://www.joesalvatore.com/
