Steinhardt Hosts Concert for Famed American Composer Elliott Carter

In June, Speculum Musicae presented a concert of works by Elliott Carter, one of the foremost American composers of the 20th century. Carter's music has been receiving special attention this year as he turns 100 in December. The NYU program included two works written by Carter for Speculum, one of the most renowned contemporary music ensembles in the world. The surprise of the evening was that Carter, who lives in Greenwich Village, attended the event and spoke to the audience before the concert.
