Dr. Larry Taub, M.A. 1976 to Head Pennsylvania School for the Deaf

The Pennsylvania School for the Deaf (PSD) announced the Board of Trustees unanimous decision to appoint Dr. Larry S. Taub as the15th Head of School beginning July 1, 2008. Currently, Dr. Taub serves as the Superintendent and CEO of the Maine Educational Center for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing and the Governor Baxter School for the Deaf, in Falmouth, Maine.

Dr. Taub will be the first deaf individual to head the school in the modern era. Deaf since birth and a member of a multi-generational deaf family, Dr. Taub holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Hofstra University; a Master of Arts in Education of the Deaf degree from NYU Steinhardt, and a Doctor of Education in Educational Administration degree from Columbia University.


Commenting on his appointment, Dr. Taub told the PR Newswire, "It is a time of great challenges and expectations for the Deaf community; we have our work cut out for us to prepare the next generation of children to be as independent and economically emancipated as possible. It certainly can be done!"
